On the rooftops of Paris, the beach… Piscinelle has done it!

The impossible is impossible. But at Piscinelle, they love a challenge and making the impossible… possible. That’s why they’ve created a pool that’s unique in the world, right in the heart of Paris, installed on a roof terrace, a veritable balcony overlooking the Eiffel Tower.

A leader in the small pool segment, this project also benefits from Piscinelle’s concern for today’s ecological issues. It is resolutely modern in the way it reinterprets the pool as an object, and in the way it is experienced, designed and implemented.

As a fast-growing lifestyle art, the swimming pool is playing an increasingly important role in outdoor living. Including, and perhaps especially, in urban outdoor living, where the pool has long been considered a challenge.

Today, the heart of a fast-moving market is slowly but surely shifting towards the mini-pool. As a result, the user-friendliness of the water’s pleasures, once thought to be the preserve of second homes or country houses, has now spread to cities and town centers.

Here, its apogee. Perched above the Seine, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, Piscinelle has completed the roof terrace of this very Parisian apartment. Like a film set, the image seems too good to be true…

At night, though just a few meters from the Maison de la Radio, with a view of the Statue of Liberty standing at the end of the Ile aux Cygnes, the buildings of Beaugrenelle, the realm of this apartment’s art of living has extended well into the swimming pool.

This rooftop beach, of course, is a logistical challenge in itself. How to manage the weight of the water, how to supply the materials, how to work on such a subject in such an environment. So many complexities that seem self-evident when it’s time to take a dip and watch the bateaux-mouches drifting down the Seine… but the complexities that have been ironed out are not just technical…

At a time of record-breaking temperatures, the subject of swimming pools is a hot one.

So, when building a project of this kind today, the complexities go beyond their usual legal nature to include a marriage between a need, a desire and a collective and environmental responsibility.

This articulation outlines what tomorrow’s swimming pool could become.

It was with this in mind that the project was conceived. Limited in size (less than 20 m² when the national average is around 32 m²), with a low water level (77 cm at the waterline compared with the national average of 150 cm), the total volume immobilized is around 15 m³. Three times less than a standard pool. And if you believe the people who use this pool, happiness is in no way diminished…

We close our eyes, hear our own breathing, forget the city, and when, after long minutes of oblivion, we blink, the Iron Lady smiles brightly at us, reminding us that here, in spite of everything, is Paris.
